Benchmark indices continued to climb Tuesday, with the Sensex jumping 363 points in early trade, tracking gains in Asian markets and buying index major Reliance Industries.

The 30-part BSE benchmark traded 362.9 points higher at 53,336.74 points. The broader NSE Nifty gained 122.25 points to 15,964.55 points.

Among Sensex companies, the biggest gainers in early trading were Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, IndusInd Bank, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank and Maruti.

On the other hand, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma, NTPC and Infosys were among the laggards.

Markets in Asia traded in the green with Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai trading higher.

The stock exchanges in the US ended on Monday with mixed notes.

In the previous trade, the BSE benchmark gained 180.22 points, or 0.34%, to settle at 52,973.84 points. The Nifty rose 60.15 points, or 0.38%, to 15,842.30 points.

Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent fell 0.29% to $113 a barrel.

Foreign institutional investors continued to sell £1,788.93 billion worth of shares, according to stock market data on Monday.

“LIC is making its debut today and has the potential to influence further market direction. Investors will be closely monitoring the WPI data, which is expected to be released later in the day,” said Mohit Nigam, Head – PMS at Hem Securities.
