Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) would establish its third plant in Haryana for its proposed new auto manufacturing project estimated at 18,000 crore. To do this, MSIL has acquired an additional 800 acres of land in the state.

Prime Minister Manohar Lal said Tuesday that this is a great achievement for the state as Maruti builds its third plant in Haryana. He said MSIL has bought an additional 800 acres of land from IMT Kharkhoda for its proposed new auto manufacturing facility. The total project cost is estimated at ₹18,000 crore. It has the potential to create jobs for 11,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled people. Together with MSIL, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has also acquired a 100 hectare plot of land to build an integrated production facility for two wheelers including engines. The total cost of the project is estimated at £1,466 billion, with a potential to create jobs for 2,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled people, he added.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) – Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) and Haryana State Industrial – Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) are ready to enter into an agreement for the allocation of 800 acres and 100 acres of land in Industrial Model Township (IMT) Kharkhoda in a ceremony scheduled for May 19.

“India performs well on the ease-of-doing-business and ease-of-living indexes, and Haryana is considered the fastest on both counts. Haryana is one of the most popular travel destinations for global investors. Maruti has played an important role in the development of the automobile sector and the overall progress of the state,” said Mr. Lal. “This will give a huge boost to the automotive sector and motivate multinationals in other sectors to set up their headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Haryana. At the same time, new job opportunities will also be created for the country’s youth,” he added.

Notably, after establishing its first automobile plant in Gurugram in 1983, Maruti has steadily expanded its manufacturing footprint in Haryana by establishing a manufacturing facility in Manesar and a state-of-the-art R&D center in Rohtak. According to an official statement, the two plants in Haryana – Gurugram and Manesar – together produce around 15.5 lakh units annually.
