Hyundai Motor India announced on May 17 that it has partnered with Tata Power to roll out a fast-charging electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure at its select dealerships in the country.

As part of the collaboration, 60kW DC charging stations will be installed at the company’s 34 EV dealerships in 29 cities to serve all types of electric vehicles via the Hyundai mobile app and Tata Power EZ Charge.

“The company is pleased to announce its partnership with Tata Power to facilitate and strengthen India’s resilient EV ecosystem and improve the overall prospects for sustainable transport, which reinforces Hyundai’s vision to combine social responsibility with economic prosperity and community well-being connect”, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) MD & CEO Unsoo Kim said in a statement.

Such strategic partnerships are fundamental to accelerate customer adoption of electric vehicles to meet the national goal of carbon neutrality, he added.

“This partnership will advance the nationwide EV charging mission by offering end-to-end EV charging infrastructure at the Company’s dealerships along with the supply, installation and commissioning of home chargers for HMIL EV customers, thereby increasing customer convenience and ease of adoption improve electric vehicles,” explained Mr. Kim.

The collaboration will offer Hyundai EV owners special rates and end-to-end home charging solutions, from delivery to installation.

The automaker sells Kona Electric in the country. The plan is to launch IONIQ 5 during the festival season this year. The company has already committed to investing £4,000m to expand its range of battery electric vehicles (BEV) in the country to six models by 2028.

The company’s expertise in EV charging space coupled with comprehensive charging solutions and nationwide ownership of Hyundai vehicles will contribute to the development of sustainable mobility infrastructure and accelerate EV adoption, he added.
