German luxury carmaker BMW Group on Friday announced the delivery of the 1,00,000th car to be produced at its Chennai plant. A BMW Individual 740Li M Sport Edition received this special badge.

“This achievement is the result of the team’s hard work, efficiency and consistency, ensuring that every BMW or MINI vehicle produced locally here in Chennai meets the same international quality standards as any other BMW plant around the world,” said Thomas Dose, MD , said in a statement.

At the same time, up to 50% increased localization and robust collaboration with local supplier partners have created value for everyone in the ecosystem,” he said.

The Chennai plant, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, currently produces 13 models. BMW Group India employs over 650 people.
