Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders unveiled their new Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 kit on Friday. CEO Venky Mysore and newly appointed captain Shreyas Iyer were present as the kit was unveiled in a segment that was streamed live on their social media handles.
KKR has stuck to its traditional colors, but the new shirt offers a much more gold palette in its kit. The lower part of the jersey has an inspirational design that sends a good signal as a whole. KKR unveiled the kit with a video that includes a voice-over by captain Shreyas Iyer.
“These are threads born with passion. The same passion that drives those who wear them. The flames burn deep within us, bending the fire to win. To conquer new challenges while winning hearts. This is the uniform of the Knights, the Trailblazers, the Stargazers, the Game Changers. Now is the time to shine. KKR hai Taiyyar,” Iyer said in the video.

Shreyas Iyer replaced Eoin Morgan as KKR captain who went unsold in the mega auction after not being retained by Kolkata. Morgan had guided KKR to the 2021 IPL finals but his form gave cause for concern for the two-time champion, who is coached by former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum.
Iyer was expected to be in high demand at the mega auction and unsurprisingly the 27-year-old youngster sparked a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and the Knight Riders before the latter had the last laugh in the auction process.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will open their IPL 2022 campaign on March 26 at Wankhede Stadium against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings.
