Suryakumar Yadav is making rapid strides in international cricket and this is reflected in the latest men’s ICC T20I ranking for batsmen, as the Mumbai Indians star rose 35 places to 21st. In the latest ranking, updated Wednesday, all-rounder Vanketash Iyer also made significant gains up the T20I batting charts.

Suryakumar and Venkatesh played key roles in India’s 3-0 win over West Indies in a recently concluded T20I series in Kolkata. While Suryakumar had the best results in the T20I series for India with 107 runs, Venkatesh was second with 92 runs. Both batters had a stunning 180+ strike rate in the 3-match streak as India saw their middle class rise to the occasion.

In the final T20I against the Windies, the two again saved India from the difficulties of 93/4. Both batsmen fired a volley of shots against the West Indies bowlers, sewing a 91-run stance in just 37 balls. India recorded a competitive aggregate record of 184/5 thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s impressive 65/31, while Venkatesh Iyer went unbeaten on 35/19.

While Suryakumar has climbed into the top 30, Iyer has made a massive jump from 203 spots to 115th in the batter rankings. West India’s lone fighter with the bat, Nicholas Pooran, moved up five spots to 13th. The left-hander hit the fifties in all three T20Is, but his efforts ended in vain.

VIRAT KOHLI RETAINS PLACE IN THE TOP 10

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli retained his place in the top 10 after scoring fifty match wins in the 2nd T20I against the West Indies. KL Rahul, who missed the T20I series through injury, has retained sixth place. Only Rahul and Kohli are the Indian batters in the top 10.

Captain Rohit Sharma, who has had a decent run against the West Indies, is in 11th place.

India will not have Suryakumar Yadav for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka as the star-batter was ruled out with a hairline fracture on Wednesday. Rohit’s men will also miss Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, who were rested while KL Rahul is out through injury.

India will play 3 T20is against Sri Lanka from 24th to 27th February.
