The Jio Institute appoints Prof. G. Ravichandran as Provost

The Jio Institute has announced the appointment of Prof. Guruswami Ravichandran of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) as Provost to further strengthen its academic leadership.

Prof. Ravichandran will join Jio Institute on July 1, 2022 as Founding Provost and Professor of Engineering.

The Jio Institute is a multidisciplinary academic institute established as a philanthropic initiative by Reliance Industries Ltd. and the Reliance Foundation was founded.

From 2015 to 2021 he was the Otis Booth Leadership Chair of the Division of Engineering and Applied Science at Caltech.

He was also the director of the California Institute of Technology’s Graduate Aerospace Laboratories (GALCIT) from 2009 to 2015, the Jio Institute said in a statement.

dr Ravichandran holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and MS in Engineering – both from Brown University, USA – and a BE (hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Regional Engineering College (NIT), Tiruchi.

The Jio Institute has also announced admission to its postgraduate (PG) certificate programs in the emerging fields of artificial intelligence and data science, as well as digital media and marketing communications.

These one-year, full-time programs are delivered by leading academics from world-renowned universities and industry leaders. These are offered by the Jio Institute campus in Navi Mumbai.
