Spanish plumbing giant Roca Bathroom Products Pvt. ltd (RBPPL) saw its sales revenue grow 53% to 1,750 crore for calendar year 2021, a top executive at the company said.

“Last year we designed and executed a (vertical) launch for a ‘helicopter’ which enabled us to book record revenues. This year will be a “rocket” launch and our goal is to achieve ₹2,000 crore in sales, said KE Ranganathan, MD.

Claiming that they are sitting on a solid base created in 2021, he said that RBPPL has posted 25% growth in the first three months of 2022 and they are optimistic the same growth pattern for the remaining months to maintain.

In response to a question, he said that new launches, higher production, push into rural markets and loyalty programs were the key drivers that allowed them to achieve the 53% growth.

For the calendar year, Roca has set aside investments of Rs. 130 crore. Approximately Rs. 80 crore will be invested in regular manufacturing activities and approximately Rs. 50 crore to set up a new pipe manufacturing facility in Rajasthan.

The new greenfield unit will supply Roca’s products in the north. It will be ready for commercial operation in two years. Pipes and fittings are currently sourced locally.

The company is also looking for land in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to expand its faucet manufacturing facility. It would entail an investment of a further Rs.50 crore.

Ferran Vilaclara, Senior MD, Asia Pacific Bathroom Products Division, Executive Board, who is in India on a maiden two-week visit, said: “We see India as a key market for us, just as we saw China before. This growth potential has further encouraged us to strengthen our position here.”

“Our new investments in India are focused on delivering quality, ensuring product affordability and building brand loyalty to drive long-term growth. We intend to continue investing in expansion and capacity building for Roca in India over the next 5-10 years,” he said.

Mr Vilaclara said he was confident Roca India would soon be the next big export hub from Asia.
