mahanagar gas ltd (MGL) announced that it has increased domestic pipeline natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) prices by £4.50/SMC and £5/kg as of midnight 12 April 2022.

“Accordingly, the revised MRP including all CNG taxes is ₹72/kg and the PNG domestic price in and around Mumbai is ₹45.50/SCM,” the company said in a statement.

The selling price of domestically produced natural gas has been increased by 110% by the Indian government effective April 1, 2022. Also, the cost of regasified LNG, which is blended to offset the lack of domestic gas availability, for CNG and domestic PNG segments is at historically high levels, it added.

“This combination has resulted in a significant increase in MGL’s gas procurement costs,” the company said.
