Indian star Virat Kohli said he never thought he would play 100 test matches, adding he was thankful to God he had reached the milestone.

Indian star Virat Kohli is grateful he was able to reach the elusive milestone of 100 test matches as he said he never thought he would play 100 test matches. Kohli will reach the milestone when India take on Sri Lanka in the first of a two-game Test series at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali, which begins on Friday.

Kohli further thanked God for his kindness and said that this was a special moment for him, his family and his coach.

“To be honest, I never thought I would play 100 friendlies. It was a long journey. We played a lot of cricket over the course of those 100 Test matches. Many international cricket. I’m just thankful that I was God was kind, I’ve been working really hard on my fitness, it’s a big moment for me, for my family, for my coach who’s also very happy and very proud of this long test match is what concerns me,” Virat Kohli said in a video posted by BCCI.

Kohli becomes the 12th Indian cricketer to play 100 Test matches – the others are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Sourav Ganguly, Dilip Vengsarkar, Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan Singh.
