Union Minister for Trade, Industry and Textiles Piyush Goyal will hold a meeting with stakeholders in the cotton textiles value chain in New Delhi on Wednesday.

According to Textile Minister Upendra Prasad Singh, the minister has scheduled a meeting with all stakeholders in the cotton textile sector to discuss the problem of high cotton and yarn prices, the measures to be taken, etc. “Any decision can only be made after the meeting,” he said.

Some of Tamil Nadu’s textile clusters, including Tirumpur, are planning a two-day strike on May 16-17 to demand action to control cotton and yarn prices.
