Gold up £263; Silver wins ₹500

Gold prices in the state capital rose by £263 to £52,472 per 10 grams on Friday, according to HDFC Securities, in line with firm global trends.

The precious metal closed at £52,209 per 10 grams in previous trade.

Silver was also up ₹500 to ₹67,707 per kg from ₹67,207 per kg in previous trade.

The rupee fell 25 paise to close at 76.42 against the US dollar on Friday, in line with a sell-off in domestic equities and a firm greenback in overseas markets.

In the international market, gold traded higher at $1,952 an ounce and silver was flat at $24.45 an ounce.

“COMEX gold prices were firm on Friday on global growth concerns about higher inflation,” said Tapan Patel, senior analyst (commodities), HDFC Securities.
