India’s new Test No.3 Hanuma Viharai and Bengali captain Abhimanyu Easwaran are among 7 players from the country set to take part in the one-day Dhaka Premer League tournament.
The one-day DPL tournament opportunity comes in the open window from March 26 for the Indian domestic cricketers who have not been selected for IPL 2022, PTI news agency reported.
Parvez Rasool (Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi), Baba Aparajith (Rupganj Tigers), Ashok Menaria (Khelaghar), Chirag Jani (Legends of Rupganj) and Gurinder Singh (Gazi Group of Cricketers) are the other Indian cricketers joining the 11-team competition have connected .
Hanuma, who just featured in India’s 2-0 win against Sri Lanka, has signed for Abahani Limited and is expected to join them in Hyderabad after a short break. Both Vihari and Easwaran as well as Rasool, Menaria and Aprajith have already participated in the tournament.
EASWARAN HAPPY WITH OPPORTUNITY
Bengal captain Abhimanyu, on the other hand, was back at Prime Bank Cricket Club in his third season after 2017 and 2019.
It is an invitational tournament and Abhimanyu received BCCI approval on Monday to fly to Dhaka for the month-and-a-half tournament.
Abhimanyu scored 30 points in their 50-round win over City Club in their opening match on Tuesday in Savar.
“It gives me an opportunity to play more games and face different types of high-value bowling attacks,” Abhimanyu told the Dhaka-based agency.
