Elon Musk had previously said his $44 billion cash deal to take Twitter private was “temporarily on hold.”

Billionaire Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday that Twitter Inc’s legal team accused him of violating a non-disclosure agreement by revealing that the sample size for the social media platform’s checks for automated users was 100.

“Twitter’s legal team just called to complain that I violated their non-disclosure agreement by revealing that the bot review sample size is 100!” tweeted Mr. Musk, CEO of electric carmaker Tesla Inc.

Mr. Musk tweeted Friday that his $44 billion cash deal to privatize the company was “temporarily on hold” while he awaited data on the proportion of his fake accounts.

He said his team will test “a random sample of 100 followers” on Twitter to identify the bots. His response to a question sparked the accusation from Twitter.

When a user asked Musk to “explain the process of filtering bot accounts,” he replied, “I chose 100 as the sample size number because it’s used by Twitter to calculate <5% fake/spam/duplicates."
