Indian airlines saw a 28% month-on-month increase in the number of domestic passengers carried in March, according to DGCA’s monthly report released on Wednesday.

The total number of air travelers flying on domestic routes in March stood at 1.06 lakh, while 76 lakh airmen arrived in February.

This is the highest growth in recent history, especially after the omicron wave of the COVID-19 pandemic reduced passenger numbers by half in January compared to December 2021.

IndiGo regained some of the market share it lost in February. Its share rose to 54.8% in March after falling to 51.3% – its lowest level since January 2021. The combined market share of Tata Sons’ three airlines, AirAsia India, Vistara and Air India, was 24, 2%, while GoFirst was in third place with 9.8% market share, just ahead of SpiceJet with 9.5%.
