Tatas reorganizes Air India Board and appoints senior executives

Tata Sons reshuffled Air India’s board of directors on Friday, filling new top management positions.

Senior airline officials who held board positions have resigned and will assume managerial responsibilities.

These include Air India Director-Finance Vinod Hejmadi, who has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, Director-Commercial Meenakshi Malik, who will now be Advisor to the CEO for Commerce and Technology, Director-HR Amrita Sharan, who will now be Advisor to the CEO for HR is, and Capt. RS Sandhu, who was Director-Operations, will now assume the role of Chief of Operations.

Senior appointments included the appointment of Tata Sons Nipun Aggarwal as Chief Commercial Officer and Accountable Manager, Suresh Dutt Tripathy as Chief Human Resources Officer, Satya Ramaswamy as Chief Digital and Technology Officer and Rajesh Dogra as Head of Customer Experience and Ground Handling.

The message from Tata Sons and Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran also informed airline staff that the management team will report to him pending the appointment of a new CEO.

Former Turkish Airlines chairman Ilker Ayci last month turned down Tata Sons’ offer to head Air India as chief executive officer (CEO) after questions about his political connections and leaving the top post at the airline vacant.
