At a time when cooking oil prices have skyrocketed due to the war between Ukraine and Russia, a survey by LocalCircles has found that 24% of Indian households have reduced consumption of the commodity, while 67% say they are doing so The reduction would pay more for other expenses and savings.

While 50% of households reported consuming the same amount as before and paying more from their savings each month, 17% reported consuming the same amount as before but paying more each month by reducing their discretionary spending .

According to LocalCircles, 24% of households have reduced their monthly consumption of cooking oil and are spending as much as before.

“On an aggregate basis, the results suggest that 24% of Indian households have reduced consumption in the face of rising cooking oil prices, while 67% are paying more by reducing spending and savings. That question in the survey received 12,527 responses,” LocalCircles said.
