HIGHLIGHTS

  • Deepak Chahar suffered a hamstring tear in Kolkata on Sunday
  • The extent of his injury is confirmed
  • India meets Sri Lanka in a 3-game T20I series starting Thursday

Indian sailor Deepak Chahar pulled a right hamstring in the third T20 International against West Indies and became doubtful for the Sri Lanka series from Thursday. Chahar, who was on a good rhythm and took two early wickets, was seen limping in his run-up in the final delivery of his second over and limping off the field.

Chahar looked a little pained as he was helped off the field in India’s 17-run win in the 3rd T20I against the West Indies on Sunday in Kolkata.

The extent of the damage to Deepak Chahar’s hamstring is being determined, according to the Press Trust of India.

If it’s a tear, Chahar could also be a dodgy starter for the IPL, where Chennai Super Kings are shelling out a massive Rs 14 crore at the auction to keep his services, the news outlet added.

Typically, a first degree tear takes six weeks for full recovery and rehabilitation.

As of now, he is certainly a dubious starter for the three-game T20 International series against Sri Lanka, which begins on February 24 in Lucknow.

India will play the final 2 T20Is on Saturday and Sunday before the 2 Test series begins in the first week of March. The 10-team IPL 2022 is expected to start in the last week of March.
