Kolkata Knight Riders pacesetter Umesh Yadav is confident that new KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer will lead the team to an Indian Premier League (IPL) title win in 2022. Umesh Yadav who was part of KKR’s 2014 IPL triumph was bought by Kolkata’s Knight Riders (KKR) franchise at the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction for INR 2 crore. So far, the veteran pacer has sacked 119 wickets in 121 IPL matches.
Yadav thanked the KKR franchise for trusting him during the final stages of the auction and spoke about his good relationship with the franchise after being a part of it from 2014-2017. He expressed excitement at returning to the franchise, recalling the 2014 title-winning season in which he was also part of the roster.

“When my name came up in the last auction I went unsold. The second time my name came up I went unsold again. KKR picked me up when my name came up the third time. I’m really grateful to KKR that he chose me and showed confidence in me. I played for KKR from 2014-2017 and have had a good relationship with them,” Umesh was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
“I’m really happy and excited to be back at KKR. I’m sure our captain Shreyas will lead KKR to a title win. We have a strong squad. I was part of that squad in 2014 when they won the title and I I’m happy to be back,” he added.
KKR will open their IPL 2022 campaign against CSK in the season opener on March 26 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
