  • LSG signed Andrew Tye to replace Mark Wood

IPL 2022 debutants Lucknow Super Giants confirmed another addition to their team. Blessing Muzarabani, pacesetter from Zimbabwe, will join Indian Premier League franchise (IPL) LSG as a net bowler.

Wood will not play for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 after sustaining a right elbow injury during the first Test against West Indies in North Sound last week.

LSG has spent Rs 7.5 crore on Wood at the IPL Mega Auction in Bengaluru. LSG announced Australian pacesetter Andrew Tye as Wood’s replacement.

Notably, Wood had pulled out of the first Test against West Indies in North Sound competition, citing an elbow problem after throwing 17 overs in the first innings. He was left out of England’s XI for the second Test, with Saqib Mahmood making his Test debut as his replacement.

The official Twitter account of the Embassy of India in Harare, Zimbabwe confirmed the news through a post on Monday.

“The Ambassador met with Mr. Blessing Muzarabani, the bowler from Zimbabwe, as he prepared to leave for #IPL2022. Ambassador wished him and his team #LucknowSuperGiants all the best. #IndiaAt75 @IndianDiplomacy @MEAIndia.”

The Lucknow Super Giants take on debutants Gujarat Titans in their opening game on Monday March 28 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
