More than 60% of these patents were filed by Indian companies and start-ups, while 17% of the technology patents were filed by individual inventors/academia research institutions.
About 65% of all patents filed in the US by India-based companies in 2020-21 were in the technology field, compared to 55% in 2019. And about 45% of the technology patents filed were granted.
Also, over 400 technology patents were filed by Indian startups between 2015 and 2021, up 45% from 280 patents in 2015-2019, according to the study.
About 21% of technology patents related to software applications as well as health and medical devices and other leading segments.
“The study marks the start of our FY2023 IP charter, which will be followed by an in-depth analysis of technology patents filed in India,” the Apex panel said in a statement.
