According to the budget document, gross market borrowing by dated securities for 2022-23 is ₹14.95,000 crore

The Union government intends to raise 8.45 lakh crore through borrowing in the first half of 2022-23 to fund the revenue shortfall for reviving the economy, the Finance Ministry said on Thursday.

Of the estimated £14.31bn gross market borrowing for FY 2022-23, £8.45bn is to be raised in the first half (H1), an official statement said.

According to the budget document, gross market borrowing by dated securities is for 2022-23

₹14,95,000 crores. Taking into account the exchange operations conducted on Jan. 28, 2022, gross market borrowing by dated securities for 2022-23 is expected to be ₹14,31,352 crore, it said.

The borrowing is to be completed in 26 weekly tranches of between £32,000 and £33,000, it said.

It said the borrowing would be spread across 2-, 5-, 7-, 10-, 14-, 30- and 40-year-old securities and variable-rate bonds with different maturities.
