Gold falls slightly by £35; Silver jumps to £295

Gold prices in the state capital fell slightly by £35 to £51,697 per 10 grams on Friday as the rupee appreciated, according to HDFC Securities.

In previous trade, the yellow metal closed at £51,732 per 10 grams.

In contrast, silver jumped ₹295 to ₹66,752 per kg from ₹66,457 per kg in previous trade.

The rupee appreciated 13 paise to 75.90 (prelim) against the US dollar on Friday, while the RBI kept the benchmark interest rate status quo.

In the international market, gold and silver were flat at $1,931 an ounce and $24.65 an ounce, respectively.

“Gold prices traded steadily, with COMEX spot gold prices trading at $1,931 an ounce on Friday,” said Dilip Parmar, retail research analyst at HDFC Securities.
