Video game publisher Activision Blizzard Inc said Thursday that its shareholders approved Microsoft Corp’s $68.7 billion proposal to buy the “Call of Duty” maker.

More than 98% of shares voted in favor of the proposed transaction at a special meeting earlier in the day, the Santa Monica, California-based company said.

Microsoft said in January it had agreed to acquire Activision Blizzard for $95 a share in the games industry’s biggest deal in history, as global tech giants stake their claims on a virtual future.

Activision, which has faced backlash over its response to allegations of internal sexual harassment and discrimination against female employees, missed adjusted first-quarter sales estimates on Monday, buoyed by weak demand for its latest title, Call of Duty : Vanguard” was hit.
