The Treasury Department said on Monday that there are still no concrete proposals to restructure the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates.
“…No feedback has been solicited from states on the GST rates for specific items or specific proposals to restructure the rates,” the ministry said in a statement, noting that a group of ministers appointed by the GST Council are seeking a rationalization of tax rates should still think about the further procedure.
“States’ views were generally solicited on the GoM’s Terms of References (ToRs) shortly after its inception in September 2021. A report from the group has yet to be submitted to the Council for consideration,” it said.
