India v Sri Lanka: Rohit Sharma seemingly convinced Virat Kohli to accept the honor guard’s gesture as the former skipper took the field on the second day of his 100th Test at Mohali.

In another show of camaraderie and mutual respect, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli shared a heartwarming moment on Day 2 of the 1st Test between India and Sri Lanka. Kohli was presented with a guard of honor by his team-mates before India’s performance at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Saturday and it was apparently Rohit who convinced his former captain to accept the gesture from them.

In a video that has gone viral online, Rohit Sharma can be seen asking Virat Kohli to come back off the field and come in again while the teammates warmed up after spending more than a day and a half in the dressing room thanks to a dominating impact performance.

After Rohit asked Kohli to come back and get back on the field, the Indian players gave up Stars beat the honor guard for his 100th test.

Kohli took note of the gesture and applause from the Mohali crowd as he took the field to take his position before Sri Lanka began the Thieves’ first innings.

Kohli became the 12th Indian cricketer and 71st overall to play 100 Tests for his country. The former captain, who resigned from his top job in early January, went out for 45 in the first innings, although India managed to post 574/8 and slammed down the Sri Lankan bowling attack at Mohali.

Kohli in particular was congratulated by the team management before the start of the first test. Head coach Rahul Dravid presented Kohli with a special India cap and urged him to “double it”. Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma also joined the cricketer at the congratulatory ceremony.
