Former captain Virat Kohli was greeted with a special by India head coach Rahul Dravid on his 100th test match. Kohli had his wife Anushka Sharma at his side to congratulate him.

India head coach Rahul Dravid congratulated star batter Virat Kohli and presented him with a special souvenir for his 100th Test ahead of Day 1 of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka. Kohli is joined by his wife Anushka as he ticks off the huge milestone.

Rahul Dravid said: “It’s well deserved, well deserved and hopefully it’s just the beginning of many things to come. As we say in the dressing room, double it.”

“I want to thank the BCCI and to receive my 100th test hat from one of my childhood heroes is truly amazing,” said Kohli as Dravid presented him with a special hat.

“It is a special moment for me. My wife is here and so is my brother. Everyone is very proud. It is indeed a team game and without you it would not have been possible. With the crowd we play with three formats and one IPL , the only thing that the next generation can take away from me is that I’ve played 100 games in the purest format,” says Kohli.

Kohli scored a memorable 4 and 15 points in his Test debut against the West Indies at Sabina Park in 2011 and has come a long way in a decade-long journey that has seen him complete 7962 runs for a stellar 50.39 average in the longest format .

Kohli will join an illustrious list that includes Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma who have all completed 100 Tests.
