City-based travel company Pickyourtrail has received undisclosed funding from Kunal Shah (CEO, Cred), Adit Parekh (Ex Blume Ventures) and Vinay Ahuja (Executive Director, IIFL Wealth) and existing investors.
The funds acquired will be used to gain further market share in the leisure sector and to explore newer regions. “We are expanding to Madurai and hiring there. Delhi is the next market to focus on,” said Hari Ganapathy, co-founder of Pickyourtrail.
As part of its global expansion plans, Pickyourtrail also opened a new office in Dubai last week. “We did a study and found Dubai to be an ideal market. The ultimate goal is to expand into more markets,” said Mr. Ganapathy.
“Global focus has always been on the roadmap and our initial experiments during the first and second waves of the pandemic gave us the opportunity to test the market. There is a clear gap for a reliable global leisure travel brand and we believe our expertise in serving one of the most value conscious customer segments (India) puts us in a unique position to build that brand with our market leading technology. Markets like the US are worth over $100 billion in international travel, and even a small slice of that pie is a significant opportunity,” said Srinath, co-founder of Pickyourtrail.
Kumar Vembu, CEO of GoFrugal Technologies, who is also one of the early investors and mentors, said Pickyourtrail was the hardest-hit travel brand in India. The pandemic was the time when many big names fell by the wayside like CoxnKings, ThomasCook (UK), VirginAtlantic to name a few.”
He added, “Not only has Pickyourtrail survived, but it has added multiple lines of business and invested the downtime in building its technology and product stack. As macro conditions for travel improve, I am confident that they will grow exponentially over the next few years.”
