Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. ltd (TKML) announced the launch of its entry-level hatchback, the all-new Toyota Glanza, priced at ₹6.39 lakh (ex-showroom).

“It is packed with advanced connected features to attract modern and tech-savvy customers in the 20-35 age group. We have received a good number of bookings. The five-seater hatchback, which will be produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, will be delivered in a week,” said B. Padmanabha, Vice President Sales and Service.

He claimed it was the cheapest entry-level offering and said it would compete with Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The price ranges from 6.39 lakh to 9.69 lakh.

The car was unveiled at a virtual event attended by TKM Executive Vice President, Sales and Customer Service Tadashi Asazuma and Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales and Strategic Marketing.

The updated Glanza is equipped with a powerful yet economical “K-Series Engine” in both manual and automatic transmissions. The petrol vehicle should achieve a mileage of 23 km per liter. It is equipped with six airbags and an anti-lock braking system with electronic braking power. It has a displacement of 1197 cc. The car will be available in five colors, he said.

Mr Asazuma said: “The advanced connected technology used in the new Glanza is Toyota’s proprietary technology – Toyota i-Connect, which can be activated via a smartphone or smartwatch and is equipped with more than 45 functions.”
