The flexi-staffing industry grew 3.5% in the third quarter of FY22, despite Omicron’s fears, and has maintained a 21.5% year-on-year growth, the Indian Staffing Federation (ISF), a leading agency for temporary staffing, said on Monday. IT and ITeS, e-commerce, retail, logistics and hospitals were among the top hiring sectors in the quarter, it said. ISF members offered formal employment to 40,000 new jobseekers in Q3, while about 2.11 lakh of new jobseekers were hired by the industry in calendar year 2021, according to a flexi-recruitment industry report issued by ISF. Lohit Bhatia, President of the Indian Staffing Federation: “The growing demand for flexi staffing is a result of the increasing demand for formal employment. Almost every sector has faced challenges over the past year, even as the economy weathered the second wave of the pandemic. However, companies have adapted quickly and the flexi-staffing industry has been able to respond to the changing demand for workers at the start of the Omicron wave, he added. ISF member companies currently represent a flexible workforce of 1.19 million.
