The Indian cricket team suffered double injury damage ahead of the three-game T20I series against Sri Lanka as white-ball specialists Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar were ruled out of the upcoming home series.

“Deepak suffered a right quadriceps injury while bowling, while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a field try in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. They will now go to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further treatment of injuries,” the BCCI statement said.

It remains to be seen if Chahar is fit for the IPL, which is expected to start in the last week of March. “The team have not sought a replacement as vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is already in the squad,” added the official. The T20 International series against Sri Lanka begins on Thursday in Lucknow.

Due to biobubble protocols, the BCCI may not announce a replacement for the duo as India already have enough replacement options in their squad to take on the tourists.

India’s T20 Squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan (Porter), Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Jasprit Bumrah (Vice Captain), Avesh Khan.
