While the tourists chased a daunting 447 target for victory after India declared 303/9, her skipper Dimuth Karunaratne fought hard to put up his 14th Test ton (107) but the wickets fell regularly and they were bowled for 208 .

“It was a good run, we enjoyed it personally and as a team, there were so many things we wanted to achieve and I think we accomplished it. No doubt (at Ravindra Jadeja) we’ve seen him grow as a hitter. He always seems to be getting better. At 7 he’s strengthening the batting and he’s a complete package bringing a lot to the team with his fielding and bowling,” said Rohit Sharma after leading the team to a perfect result in their first series at the helm.

Rohit further spoke about the positive results coming from the two-game series of tests.

“Shrayas just moved on from the T20s, he never got out of there once and carried it into testing. He knew he would replace Pujara and Rahane in filling big boots, but he’s obviously doing it really well.

“Rishabh seems to be getting better with every game he plays. Especially in these conditions. We saw it in the England series (last year) and now. A few catches and stumps showed how confident he is,” added Added Rohit.

“(About Ashwin) It was my personal feeling (that he’s an all-time great). Whenever we give him the ball, he puts on game-winning performances. He’s got a lot of years left. We have a lot of opportunities that I look forward to I have to make sure he’s in good spirits.

“Pink ball tests are challenging. We never knew what it was like to play the pink ball in India, but we’re learning to make those adjustments. The audience only makes it more special,” signed Rohit.
