The 2022 Pakistan Super League (PSL) was rocked by the slap gate scandal on Monday when Lahore Qalandars pacesetter Haris Rauf smacked teammate Kamran Ghulam for dropping a catch during a key game against Peshawar Zalmi.

The incident happened when Lahore’s Rauf knocked out Peshawar’s Mohammad Haris Zalmi in the second over of the inning and the Pakistani pacer struck Ghulam while celebrating the wicket. Earlier in the same over, Ghulam spilled Hazratullah Zazai’s catch as Rauf looked frustrated with the fielder.

However, Ghulam could be seen putting on a brave face and smiling even after being hit, but Rauf’s expression didn’t look friendly. Haris drew fans’ ire for his outrageous behavior.

Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalanders in the first Super Over of this Pakistan Super League on Monday. Thanks to captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, who shot 23 from the last regular over, Lahore Qalandars finished 158-8 to even out Peshawar’s 158-7 performance.

Peshawar captain Wahab Riaz conceded just five runs in a decent super over and veteran Shoaib Malik won the game by smashing back-to-back boundaries on Afridi’s first two balls. Both teams finished the group stage with 12 points, but Lahore finished second with a better net run rate than Peshawar.

Lahore meet leaders Multan Sultans for a place in the final on Wednesday, while Peshawar meets Islamabad United in an eliminator on Thursday. The losers of Multan-Lahore have another chance to reach Sunday’s final if they meet the winner of the elimination match on Friday.
