Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar took to social media on Thursday to dismiss social media ads that have “morphed images” of him promoting a casino as fake, adding that it hurts to see he’s at it accustomed to misleading the people of the country.

Known for his impeccable image, Sachin Tendulkar did not personally endorse tobacco or alcohol brands even during his heyday. Tendulkar reiterated his stance on the matter and urged people to remain vigilant about fake ads being circulated on social media.

“I’ve noticed several adverts appearing on social media platforms with an altered photo showing me endorsing a casino.

“I have never endorsed gambling, tobacco or alcohol – directly or indirectly, as an individual. It hurts to see my images being used to mislead people,” Tendulkar said in a social media post.

“While my legal team will take the necessary action, I felt it was important to share this information with everyone,” he added.

Tendulkar, who has played 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and a single T20I for India over his 25-year international career, made the statement despite the Cricket Brotherhood celebrating the 12th anniversary of his historic double hundred against South Africa at Gwalior.
