The country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki, on Wednesday announced a Customer Convenience Package (CCP) to cover vehicles for unforeseen engine failures due to hydrostatic lock and fuel adulteration.

“In recent years, there have been so many heavy rains that have caused roads to flood. Earlier this happened only in 2-3 cities, now, according to our estimates, this phenomenon was present in 42 cities. Also, people are now traveling more with the possibility of getting adulterated fuel that can damage the engine,” said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Director, Service, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

In the event of a hydrostatic lock, the customer may have to shell out up to ₹50,000 depending on the extent of the damage, while in the case of fuel adulteration, the amount can be as high as ₹35,000, he said, adding that the combo package for these two customers would complain depending on the car model Cost £700 to £1,300 for a year.

Mr. Banerjee added that the company’s service business is currently higher than it was before COVID. On average, about 60,000 vehicles are serviced every day and the frequency of complaints related to both of these issues has increased, he added.

When asked, he said the company has added an average of 180 service touchpoints each year for the past five years and this year’s goal is to surpass 200 new service touchpoints. The company currently has more than 4,200 service touchpoints in more than 2,100 cities.
