Maruti Suzuki builds new plant in Haryana

The country’s biggest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), announced on Friday that it will invest £11,000 in the first phase of its new manufacturing facility in Haryana.

The process of allocating land to Maruti Suzuki by Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. in Sonipat was completed on Friday.

Covering 800 acres, the upcoming site in Industrial Model Township Kharkhoda would be the largest single site for the company, said Rahul Bharti, executive director, corporate affairs, Maruti Suzuki.

The first plant, with a production capacity of 2,50,000 vehicles per year, is expected to be operational before 2025, according to a company press release, subject to regulatory approvals. The site will offer space for three more production facilities in the future.

Upon completion, the site will have a total production capacity of 1 million vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki has been in talks with the Haryana government at length regarding the new manufacturing facility for the planned capacity expansion.
