Led by demand in the technology sector, job vacancies in India have surpassed pre-COVID levels since September 2021, posting a 30.8% growth from February 2020 through the end of March 2022, according to a report.
Global jobs site Indeed’s report is based on data on job postings on the platform from February 2020 to March 2022.
Demand for jobs has been highest in the software and technology sectors, up 25.2% since last year, the report said.
The software and technology segment was followed by management roles (9.7%) and IT roles (5%).
“We have seen an increase in demand for talent across almost all job categories, albeit at a much greater rate in some jobs than others. Workers in India, particularly in the tech segment, have more choice and may be given more bargaining power than before the pandemic. This can lead to more positive outcomes for employees in terms of increased compensation and company benefits,” added Sashi Kumar, Indeed’s Head of Sales.
