Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga has joined the Rajasthan Royals as their fast bowling coach ahead of the new Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season.

Rajasthan Royals on Friday announced the appointment of Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga as the franchise’s Fast Bowling Coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Malinga previously served as a bowling mentor for the Mumbai Indians before returning as a player at IPL 2019. The legendary pacer is known for his unconventional approach to bowling and strategic thinking.
Malinga also served as the bowling strategy coach for the Sri Lanka men’s team for their five-game T20I tour of Australia. He was appointed by the Sri Lanka Cricket Executive Committee in consultation with the Sri Lanka Cricket Technical Advisory Committee.
Malinga, in his short-term role as specialty coach, assisted Sri Lanka’s bowlers by providing tactical insight and technical expertise to help implement strategic plans on the pitch. The appointment was effective February 1-20.
