The RCB star also quit as India’s T20I captain last year before being sacked as ODI captain. Kohli also resigned as India’s Test captain in an unforeseen call earlier this year after the Asian giants suffered a 2-1 defeat in a 3-Test series in South Africa.

“Wow, 15 [IPL season]! It’s pretty incredible that the IPL has come this far and yes, [I am here with] new energy because I got rid of a lot of responsibilities and duties and life is in a very good place. We have a child now, we have a family and for me it’s about going through life with a lot of joy and happiness and watching our child grow and doing what I love, which is play cricket.” -year-old said in the video that RCB posted on their official Twitter account.

Kohli revealed that the moment RCB got their hands on Faf du Plessis they knew they had a leader for the side with pedigree this year who had captained South Africa in all three formats.

“I messaged him as soon as he was selected for RCB. I’ve briefed him a bit on what’s to come. It was later made official but I obviously knew the plan to get Faf at auction was very clear that we need a leader in the dressing room and he demands that respect.”

Kohli also pointed out that he has to complete a mandatory three-day quarantine despite being just 20 minutes from his home in Mumbai and said he will catch up on many video calls with his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika.
