GT batsman David Miller spoke after the game and praised Rahul Tewatia’s batting power.

During the post-match press conference, he said: “We tried to give ourselves the best chance and then the one over went off the spinner (hooda) for 21 (22 runs) and the next over (by Ravi Bishnoi) for another 19 (17 runs). It was really nice to be out there with him (Tewatia) and see what he’s capable of.”

“In recent years, Rahul has achieved some impressive totals. We were just waiting for the dynamic to change. We took our time at first and couldn’t get started. But we knew if we took it deep, we could do it Chase 40 in the last 3 overs on that particular ground,” he added.

“I’ve played against him a couple of times, so what I’ve seen of him on the field in the past was exactly what I expected. He asked us to have fun. He wants us to work hard and wants to win,” he said of the South African.

This is Hardik Pandya’s debut as captain for a side of this caliber and David Miller had nothing but praise for him and his leadership after the game. He said the Gujarat Titans captain expects players to have fun while working equally hard.

“It’s just to reiterate how fun it is and what a great opportunity it is to be at the IPL and play at this level. So far so good with his leadership.”

“We are really looking forward to working with him for the next two months. Just getting out there, expressing ourselves and enjoying what we’re doing,” he added.

The Gujarat Titans play their next game against the Delhi Capitals on April 2 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
