CVC Capitals-owned Gujarat Titans became the first Indian Premier League (IPL) team to use the Metaverse to unveil the logo ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Head coach Ashish Nehra, captain Hardik Pandya and opener Shubman Gill were virtually present in the Metaverse (a virtual reality space where users can interact with a computer-generated environment) to unveil the logo on Sunday February 20th.

The Gujarat Titans have unveiled a simple but eye-catching logo for IPL 2022, days after another new franchise Lucknow Super Giants unveiled their logo. The Titans logo has a triangular design with a dark blue background featuring “Gujarat” and “Titans” in a 3D format.

“Our DNA is about reaching the top and always moving to the top. There is the kite of Gujarat which is not only our passion but larger than life. Our motto is to share energy and unlimited power. We stop at nothing,” adds Captain Hardik of the Metaverse, said before launching the logo.

Gujarat Titans, one of two new teams entering the IPL this season, is led by India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Aside from Skipper Hardik, the franchise has bought eight other all-rounders, including Rahul Tewatia, for a whopping Rs 9 crore.

Gujarat selected Hardik (Rs 15 crore), Afghan leg spinner Rashid Khan (Rs 15 crore) and Gill (Rs 7 crore) as their draft picks ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega-Auction held earlier this month.

Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra said he was pleased with the franchise’s strong all-around roster, which is making its Indian Premier League (IPL) debut.

The Gujarat Titans squad also includes hard-hitting England opener Jason Roy, Australia wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, senior Indian pacesetter Mohammad Shami and speedy New Zealander Lockie Ferguson.

It remains to be seen if Hardik can bowl for Gujarat in the 2022 IPL, but head coach Nehra said he will be more than happy to have the all-rounder as a pure hitter. Hardik has not bowled regularly in competitive cricket due to recurring back injuries. He has not played since the T20 World Cup last year.
