The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Friday that the 2022 Indian Premier League season will start on March 26 and the final will be played on May 29. The 10-team season in IPL 2022 will consist of 74 games. including 70 league games played at four venues in Mumbai and Pune.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed the schedule for IPL 2022 following the IPL Board of Directors meeting, which took place practically on Thursday.
The BCCI said IPL 2022 will be played in a biosecure environment and the decision to only select two host cities was made to “avoid air travel, which is seen as a major threat to the spread of Covid-19 infection and thereby the players.” affect and the league/games.”

The 10 teams were drawn into 2 groups of 5 each. Mumbai Indians lead Group A while Chennai Super Kings lead Group B. To decide this, teams were divided into two virtual groups based on the number of IPL championships won, followed by the number of finals played by each team.

Each team plays twice with the teams in its group and with the team in the same row in the second group. With the other teams in the second group, they only play once during the league phase of the season.
