Infrastructure contractor Power Mech Projects has bagged contracts worth ₹2,120 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) program in Uttar Pradesh.

The new orders are located in 2,120 villages of Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Meerut districts. The main components include 2,100 pipe wells, as well as an equal number of water tanks and 13,000 km of piping network to supply drinking water to a population of around 50 lakh, the company said on Monday.

JJM, one of the center’s ambitious programs, was initiated in 2020 to provide safe and adequate drinking water to every rural household in the country through individual, functional domestic water connections by 2024.

“Our credibility as a partner to governments and corporations paves the way for large contracts and prospects both domestically and internationally,” said CMD S. Kishore Babu in a press release.

The latest order comes a year after the company was awarded JJM projects in 898 villages in Bulandshahar, Meerut and Etah districts of Uttar Pradesh from the State Water Sanitary Mission for an initial value of ₹898 crore under Phase II of JJM. The amount of the contract, won through a joint venture with BRCCPL, has risen to ₹1,800 crore after a detailed survey.
