25-year-old fast bowler from Madhya Pradesh Avesh Khan made his India debut in the 3rd T20I against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. He is the second debutant for India in the 3-match streak after leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi earned his first cap for India in the first T20I.

Avesh Khan received his first India cap from senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar as India continued the tradition of letting the team’s senior members do the honors at the team huddle for the newcomer. It was senior leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who presented Ravi Bishnoi with the first Indian international in the first T20I on Wednesday at the same venue.

Avesh Khan recently became the most expensive uncapped Indian player in IPL auction history after being picked by Lucknow Supergiants for 10 crores.

Avesh made his IPL debut in 2017 but only played one game. It wasn’t until the 2021 season that he became a regular at the Delhi Capitals, playing as XI. In 16 games for the franchise, he took 24 wickets with a save rate of 7.37.

Avesh has been one of the cast members for the Delhi Capitals franchise since he joined the team a few years ago for INR 70 lakh. Remarkably, the 25-year-old Pacer finished the 2021 IPL as the second-highest wicket-taker, with Harshal Patel the only one ahead of him.

The 25-year-old has played 27 top-flight games and won 100 wickets with an average of 23.42, while winning 17 wickets from 22 List A games. He has 65 wickets in 48 T20Is with an impressive 21.30 average and a 7.78 economy.

India made four changes to their lineup on Sunday as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur and Avesh take care of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant (who have been rested by the bio-bubble), Bhuvneshwar and Chahal.
