Hyundai Motor India partnered with Tata Power to set up EV charging infrastructure

Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday announced a partnership with Tata Power to build electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in India.

The auto major said it plans to facilitate the installation of Tata Power’s 60kW DC fast chargers at 34 of its EV dealership locations in 29 cities, in addition to the existing 7.2kW AC chargers, and intends to expand the charging infrastructure network across India to expand dealers.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Hyundai Motor India and Tata Power in the presence of Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India and Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power.

Tata Power will deliver end-to-end home charging solutions, from charger delivery to installation, for Hyundai EV customers, the company said, adding that charging stations at those dealerships will be open to all EV customers and accessible through Hyundai and Tata Power will be Mobile EZ Charge App.

Mr. Kim said: “Such strategic partnerships are fundamental to accelerate customer adoption of electric vehicles to meet the national goal of carbon neutrality. This partnership will advance the nation’s electric mobility mission by providing end-to-end EV charging infrastructure at HMIL dealerships along with home charger delivery, installation and commissioning for HMIL EV customers, enhancing customer convenience and ease of adoption electric vehicles are being improved.”
