HDFC Bank hires 1,500 employees in Karnataka

HDFC Bank announced it would hire 1,500 professionals in Karnataka over the next 12 months as part of its expansion plans in the state.

“In the future, we plan to add an additional 130 stores across the state, bringing our total number of stores in Karnataka to more than 450. We will also hire approximately 1,500 professionals over the next 12 months to support growth in our businesses,” Ahmed Zackaria, Head of Retail Banking, Karnataka, HDFC Bank, said in a statement.

“Karnataka remains a strategic market for our bank. We have continued to support local businesses and households during the pandemic, as reflected in the growth of our overall business over the past 12 months,” he said.

“We continue to be the largest private bank in Karnataka, providing quality banking products and services to every corner of the state,” he added.

The lender said it had surpassed ₹2,00,000 crore in total business in Karnataka and said it had become the largest private sector bank in the state in terms of total business volume.

The bank’s total advances in the state were £73,655.39 billion at the end of September 30, 2021, including loans to retail, corporate, MSME and microfinance clients, it said.

HDFC Bank added that it has a 9% market share of all loans in the state.

Total deposits in Karnataka at the end of the first half of this fiscal year were ₹1,39,387.46 million. The share of deposits as of September 30, 2021 was 11.68% of the total deposits.

The bank started operations in Karnataka in 1996 with its first branch in Bengaluru. It currently has 330 branches in 122 cities/towns spread across all 30 districts of Karnataka (as of December 31, 2021). The branch network is supplemented by 1,172 ATMs and 92 CDMs.
