  • AFG starter Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit his 3rd ODI hundred on Monday

Afghanistan rode Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s brilliant hundreds to chase the goal of 193 runs in just 40.1 overs and record a 7-wicket win over Bangladesh at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.

Afghan spinners weave a web in the middle overs to derail Bangladesh’s innings, knocking out the hosts for a meager 192. Gurbaz then made the chase look really easy and added another feather to his handsome new cap with a 106 with punches.

Leg spinner Rashid Khan claimed 3-37 as Bangladesh was sacked for 192 in 46.5 overs. Gurbaz, who has now turned all of his three half centuries into centuries in just nine games, then helped Afghanistan win with 59 balls remaining.

Rahmat Shah scored 47 points and opener Riaz Hasan added 35.

Gurbaz hit seven fours and four sixes for his 110-ball, 106 not out, sharing two key partnerships to propel the team closer to victory.

He and Riaz gave Afghanistan a solid start, jointly creating a 79-run opening score before left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan broke the latter.

Gurbaz then added another 100 with Rahmat Shah for the second wicket.

Offspinner Mehidy Hasan struck twice, sacking Shah to end the partnership and then taking the wicket from Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahihi.
