India vs. Sri Lanka, 1st T20I: Highlights

Bhuvneshwar ran through Sri Lanka’s top order, with the Indian pacer getting rid of opener Pathum Nissanka in the first innings and then Kamil Mishara in the 3rd over, while Venkatesh Iyer picked up Janith Liyanage’s wicket to body punch the opposition.

The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal then quickly sent off Dinesh Chandimal (10) and Dasun Shanaka (3) to leave Sri Lanka 60-5 in the 11th over.

Charith Asalanka put up a lone fight, racing to his third T20I 50, but apart from him and refreshing hits from Dushmantha Chameera, Sri Lanka were led down by an overall poor batting performance.

Ishan, Shreyas help India after 199

Earlier, opener Ishan Kishan punched his way to a stunning 56-ball 89 before Shreyas Iyer hit an unbeaten 57 to help India post a challenging 199 for 2 against Sri Lanka. The 23-year-old from Jharkhand sewed a 111-run innings for the opening wicket with skipper Rohit Sharma to set India on course for an impressive total after Sri Lanka settled for the first bowl.

Skipper Rohit also got 44 balls from 32 as Sri Lankan bowlers without world-leading leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga were brought to the cleaners by Indian batsmen. Iyer then seized the opportunity with both hands, smashing five fours and two sixes in 28 balls to lead India to a huge total.
